We have spent the last few years learning about and perfecting our resin casting methods. The small details have been the most challenging; fine tuning colours, removing bubbles from clear castings, creating efficient moulds that give perfect results over and over again. We have turned many mistakes into learning experiences and accidents into new creative techniques.
For our design offsite installation however, we have chosen to let the material show its natural flaws. Quick clay hand sculpted forms were moulded in silicone into which we poured multiple castings of clear and tinted resin that cured fast and required little finishing. We bypassed degassing the resin to include 'carbonated' bubbles which give the pieces a varied, frosted appearance. The speed and looseness of this process makes every piece slightly different.
Hung from our ceiling and lit from mounted spotlights, a glowing, dynamic resin form appears, moving and shifting ever so slightly and casting angular shadows across the walls and floor.
