OORT TABLE
These smooth, rounded forms were inspired by the OORT CLOUD - a theoretical cloud of icy planetesimals that encircle our solar system. We imagined these objects being gently eroded over the eons as they travel amongst the cloud.
OORT tables are created in our Toronto studio using the process of rotocasting. Resin is added layer by layer from the inside and turned by hand to build up structure and depth. The process takes many days, and while the exterior forms are measured and polished, the interiors tell the story of its creation. Small random bubbles and slight variances in wall thickness make each piece beautiful and unique.
